With The Workweek growing longer and employees feeling less certain of job stability, spirituality is gaining a larger than ever role in the workplace. From religious discussions with fellow employees to lunchtime breaks to study the Bible, the Koran, or the Jewish Scriptures, workers are gaining spiritual refreshment in the midst of hectic days.
Bill Hoganson, associate pastor at Calvary Chapel in Anaheim, California, leads a weekly Bible study for employees of Disneyland. "I'd say the number one thing that draws them is the chance to be refreshed from the stress of the day," he observes. "I try to give them an eternal perspective so they won't be overwhelmed by the tyranny of the moment."
