Pain and inflammation eliminated

For two or three years, I had intermittent pain and inflammation in the first joint of my big toe. The foot was also slightly swollen, and sometimes I experienced discomfort when wearing shoes. The symptoms gradually worsened. One day I had occasion to mention the situation to a friend, and she blurted out "That's arthritis." Bad experiences don't half wake us up! I had some praying to do.

The next morning when I got up, I reasoned: "If 'There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter' (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 468), then there can be no pain in my foot." I also remembered what Mary Baker Eddy said about divine metaphysics. "Metaphysics resolves things into thoughts, and exchanges the objects of sense for the ideas of Soul" (ibid., p. 269). Yes, I thought, even a toe represents a divine idea, and I include all right ideas.
