Dear Sentinel,

Have you recently lost someone you love? Last Christmas my grandmother was very ill and later died. At first I was very upset, but I thought about how Paul tells us that death cannot separate us from God's love.

He says, "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Rom. 8:38, 39).
