The birth of my first baby was difficult and painful, with complications and a lengthy recovery. The second was better, but still with many difficulties. When I was expecting the third baby, we had moved to a different city and it was necessary to find another physician to attend the birth.
Retrospection and Introspection by Mrs. Eddy states, "The human history needs to be revised, and the material record expunged." Here was an opportunity to do so. My husband and I still needed to be healed of the fear of repeating the previous experiences. I employed the services of a group of home birth doctors, one of whom would be in attendance as required by law. I also employed a Christian Science practitioner to help me through prayer.
During the last couple of weeks before the baby was due, I was told that the baby was lying sideways instead of in the normal position, and that this might necessitate a hospital delivery. I continued to stay in touch with the practitioner, and I prayed daily throughout the pregnancy to learn of the true, spiritual nature of man as a child of our Father-Mother God.
