"I Shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord"...

I Shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord" (Psalms). This has always been a verse with special meaning to me. Christian Science came into my life when I was about twelve years old. I had been very ill for several years with a severe form of colitis. I was not able to attend school and could do very little; also, I was on a very strict diet.

My parents had just been told by a London specialist that it would not be possible for me to live more than a few months. On hearing this, a neighbour gave my mother a copy of The Christian Science Journal. The neighbour said that she knew little about Christian Science but that it might be of interest. My mother got in touch with the nearest Christian Science practitioner and an appointment was made. Mother was able to accept what she was told at that meeting and felt very happy. Prayerful help was requested of the practitioner.

My condition began to improve immediately. A while later I had a setback, but it proved to be the turning point in the healing. I did not feel that I was going to live through this particular night. Then the words of the above verse from Psalms came to me so clearly that I just knew it was the answer and that all would be well. In the past it had taken many days to improve after a bad attack, but on this occasion I was able to be up and about the next day; and from then on steady progress was maintained until there was a complete and permanent healing. I will always be grateful to the dear practitioner, who was so loving and patient with me.
