The prayer that crosses all boundaries
Christmas is perhaps one of the best times to learn that God's love passes over international boundaries and brings healing.
Many activities occur around Christmastime, and customs very greatly from country to country. Through periods when I have lived in England and Nigeria—among other places—I have come to see just how different the perceptions of this holiday can be.
As I was walking down a mountain path a few days before my first Christmas on an island in the Indian Ocean, a woman I knew greeted me. She was holding a machete. When I asked what she was doing, she beamed and replied joyously, "I'm cleaning my property.
"As you're new here, perhaps you don't know that this is the season when all the people love to clean their houses and land so they are ready for Christmas and the New Year," she said.
