Trust God to unfold your life
Wherever we are, our progress depends on the unfolding of God's plan for us.
When we see beautiful apple blossoms unfolding on the tree—some fully open, some partly open, some tightly closed—we know that if we try to force them open they will be spoiled and the apples will never grow. Neither can we force the unfolding of our careers and our lives.
Planning and development are certainly important. When goals are set and plans followed, work proceeds efficiently. Better goals bring better results. It is commonly accepted, however, that such outlining can include mistakes; that traits such as selfishness, pride, and envy can hinder progress; that one person's gain can be another's loss. How can we avoid such pitfalls in our own planning?
Isn't it by understanding the God-given purpose of our lives? Man exists to express God. Our real purpose, then, is to glorify God in everything we do. Because God is omnipotent, His purpose is attainable. He is attaining it now and always, here and everywhere. And understanding His ever-present goodness, we are able to silence doubt, destroy fear, expel whatever would keep us from expressing our real nature, which is spiritual.
