The book to love and live by

People may disagree about the Bible. But its spiritual teaching can be proved true in practical, healing ways.

Most would probably agree that over the centuries people have turned to the Bible for help and comfort more than to any other book. But can they agree on anything else about the Bible? What other book has been the focus of as much controversy? People disagree about meaning, historical accuracy, purpose, translations, and there are even disagreements over the geography in the Bible. All this can leave us unsure what to believe about the Bible, why we can look to it for help, or why we should trust what it says.

A little over a century ago, Mary Baker Eddy discovered that there is a provable law of God evidenced throughout the Bible, a law that, when recognized and understood, is more powerful than any physical so-called law. The Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, helps us demonstrate this law of God, Love, for ourselves. Spiritual listening is the first step in knowing and feeling divine Love or spiritual reality now just as surely as it was when the narratives and wisdom of the Bible were first written down.

When the narratives in the Old and New Testaments were evolving, those who were spiritually listening recognized the creator and cause of the universe to be God. And they found that when they turned to God wholeheartedly, conscious of Him as all-powerful, present, and caring for His creation, the help they needed appeared as surely as stones fell downward. Seas opened, rains came, health was restored. They could depend on God and His law. And their experiences and spiritual revelations literally made history, sharing this earth-shattering truth of God's law in ways no one could forget.
