Pure Christian healing and the practice of religion

Anyone who honestly investigates Christian Science soon discovers two essential aspects of its teachings. One is the universal love that underlies everything about its practice as a religion. The other is the uncompromising requirement in its teachings for reliance on God, divine Spirit, in working out one's salvation. These two essentials are always mutually supportive of the ultimate goal of living one's life for the glory of God. And isn't this kind of living what is actually at the center of Christian experience for every follower of Christ Jesus?

It's clear that the love of God that impels and infuses Christian Science is also the fundamental reality that gives strength, purpose, and power to anyone's genuine religious life and practice. And surely most other Christians would agree that without this love the whole concept of religion itself would be virtually meaningless.

After all, an unselfish love for God and humanity was what Jesus kept requiring of his disciples in all they did. And when discipleship was done that way, truly wonderful and remarkable things happened—such as healing and regeneration and new life in Christ—"and the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved." Acts 2:47.
