As a schoolgirl I suffered frequently from very severe headaches. One day I was so ill I was sent home from school early. I was going to lie down when I remembered talking to a friend who was a Christian Scientist about spiritual healing through prayer. I decided to telephone her and ask if she could help me. The healing of that headache came almost immediately, and I never had that trouble again. When I rang to thank her she said, "Let all that is within you praise God," and I learnt then the importance of gratitude to God for all our blessings. After this healing I began the study of Christian Science.

More recently I had a painful foot condition that made walking uncomfortable. The foot became increasingly painful and discoloured, and a member of my family, who is not a Christian Scientist and who was staying with me at the time, became very concerned and expressed a great deal of fear both to me and to other members of my family.

I called a Christian Science practitioner, and she lovingly came to see me. We sat together while she prayed for me, and after a short time I realised there was no more pain. A little later the foot drained and the swelling went down, and within a short time the foot had healed completely. As Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy states (p. 463), "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive." It was such a joy to be able to walk again with absolutely no discomfort!
