The power in healing
If you believe that you cannot heal spiritually, in a way of speaking you are right. There is only one healing power in heaven and earth, and it is God. The greatest healer of all, Christ Jesus, said: "I can of mine own self do nothing" John 5:30. and "The Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works." 14:10 .
Isn't it wonderful to realize that Christian healing isn't a personal accomplishment? That it's always the result of God's presence, the true idea, accepted into human consciousness and truly lived. This divine presence, the Christ, can come to anyone, anytime, anywhere. What is needed is receptivity, a willingness to accept the true idea and to adhere to it.
I remember a time when I was struggling with an awful sense of loneliness and despair. There seemed no light in my life at all. Nothing I read, no one I talked to, seemed to help. One day I was walking along the beach in a fog so dense that I could see ahead only a few feet at a time. Suddenly, out of this silent invisibility a young face—scraggy, bearded—appeared right in front of mine. A soft smile with the words "Jesus loves you," and then it was gone. And so was my despair. The message led me to recall the Christ-love Jesus lived. That stranger, whoever he was, probably didn't realize it, but he was the means whereby God's presence touched me.
