Recently I had my carefully ordered priorities rearranged in a completely unexpected manner. The result was a physical healing and a better understanding of man's true relationship to God.

One morning as I prepared to go to a Sunday service in our branch Church of Christ, Scientist, I noticed that a rash had developed all over my feet and hands and on the inside of my mouth. This condition grew more painful as the day wore on, even though I had begun to treat myself through prayer. The upcoming week was to be a busy one for me: an important business meeting was planned for two days at the end of it, where I was to be one of the central figures; and a long-awaited visit from some family members would follow on the weekend. I had planned each of my activities for the earlier part of the week very carefully so as to be fully prepared for my responsibilities during the latter part of the week. I felt I did not have time to deal with any kind of interruption in this hectic schedule!

Because of the gravity of the skin problem, the next day I contacted a Christian Science practitioner for help. My attention was immediately turned to this statement in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 428): "To divest thought of false trusts and material evidences in order that the spiritual facts of being may appear,—this is the great attainment by means of which we shall sweep away the false and give place to the true." I began to realize that numerous diversions from the spiritual truth of being had occurred in my thought, and that these diversions needed to be corrected.
