How does one find words to express gratitude for something that has completely revolutionized her life?
With no income, two small children to support, and having been given six weeks to live by doctors because of tuberculosis, my mother grasped Christian Science hungrily. She had no thought of being healed but wanted only to find an explanation for life. Soon she became engrossed in learning and forgot the illness entirely. A few weeks later my mother discovered she was completely well.
At this same time an accident had left me with three severed tendons in my back. Mother had exhausted material remedies and been told I would never walk. At that point, another new student of Science shared with Mother a few simple spiritual truths and then recommended that she take me home, put me to bed, and turn entirely to God's care. Mother spent the next several hours studying the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Finally the fear lifted, and she was able to drop a burdened feeling of responsibility. She closed her books and said, "Now, God, I've done all I can. You'll have to do the rest." By that time I had fallen asleep. When I woke up, I was healed.
