"Let me know!"

"Let me know!" I repeated this reminder anxiously, impatiently. I was waiting to hear about a friend's condition after a crisis. Was she all right? It was a long wait. At the end of the day I still didn't know.

Finally I began to question my anxiety. Why was I waiting for someone else to let me know? Shouldn't I be letting myself know what was true about my friend? The most welcome feeling of assurance came to me. Without waiting any longer I affirmed that no matter where my friend was, God was there. God as Principle, as Love, was in control. I had faith that every individual has a permanent, unbreakable relationship to the Principle underlying all identity. I had tested this faith before under stress, so I knew it was possible even under adverse circumstances to feel needed spiritual assurance. What a relief to let myself know that man's real source is the governing Principle known as God! Yes, the ultimate good news is that God is Principle and that Principle, divine Love, forever preserves man's identity.

It wasn't long before word came that my friend was indeed all right. She had gone through a trying experience, but she was better, and everyone concerned recognized it.
