Action: An Important Word in Healing

Many physical problems are related to improper action. Malfunctioning, overaction, and inaction are often associated with disease or physical disabilities. When the wrong action is corrected, healing follows. Medical practice approaches this from a material standpoint, relying on forms of matter in its attempt to effect a cure. Christian Science works from a spiritual basis, declaring that God is the source of all action, and that this action is spiritual and good. This truth comprehended and utilized brings healing. "Action" is an important word to grasp in practicing divine Science.

To understand true action, we first have to understand God. The Bible reveals Him to be omnipotent Mind, Spirit, Love, Life, perfect and eternal. He is the sole cause, creator, and controller. He is the exclusive source of action—all action. Paul declares, "In him we live, and move, and have our being." Acts 17:28;

The action that Mind produces is harmonious, perfect, indestructible, changeless. It cannot be interrupted, disordered, depleted, or stopped. The Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, states, "Mind is the source of all movement, and there is no inertia to retard or check its perpetual and harmonious action."
