On a beautiful, sunny Saturday morning my husband and I...

On a beautiful, sunny Saturday morning my husband and I decided to take a short flight around the area in our airplane. Upon our return to the airfield to land, another plane waiting for takeoff radioed that our right wheel was only one fourth of the way down. Our instruments showed no sign of trouble, so we had to pass the tower several times so they could tell us whether our adjustments had succeeded in releasing the gear.

As we circled the tower getting a negative response, my husband and I declared audibly to each other the truth as taught in Christian Science—that God is ever present and all-power. The only real action there is originates in Mind, so action must be harmonious and perfect. My husband switched from the electrical to a manual hand crank, but still the gear remained stuck. Our mechanic radioed suggestions, and an instructor who had taken to the air guided us in some maneuvers that they hoped would shake it loose.

Passing over the field, I looked down and saw the rescue units gathering below, but I felt completely at peace in the knowledge that God was in control. I knew no human conjectures about what should or could happen mechanically, or any probabilities, could interfere with the action of divine Mind.
