"We are guided, guarded, and cared for"

All of Life Is Here

Christian Science shows that what the world generally regards as the death of an individual is a mental rather than a physical experience—a giving in to the delusive claims of materiality—in which the individual passes to another stage of belief. Such an experience, however, is not part of God's plan for His children and therefore is not an actual event. Mortal mind—material consciousness—isn't a real entity with a cycle of its own; it's only a term that helps us to understand and prove the illusiveness of materiality and the present and eternal intactness of divine Life, Mind, in which is no death.

God's man has never passed into, through, or out of human consciousness. He is not, as Mrs. Eddy puts it, "a migratory mind." "Man in Science is neither young nor old," she writes. "He has neither birth nor death. He is not a beast, a vegetable, nor a migratory mind. He does not pass from matter to Mind, from the mortal to the immortal, from evil to good, or from good to evil."  Science and Health, p. 244; Man was created in Mind. He reflects and dwells securely in the divine understanding. That is his dwelling place forever, because that is all there is or ever will be. In Mind there are no misconceptions, either subtle or aggressive; there is only perfect knowing and perfect knowing reflected.

Neither is Life, God, divided into isolated planes of existence. Divine Life is One; indivisible Being. Nothing can leave Life; it is infinite—all that is—within which its own reflection, man and the universe, forever unfolds. "Where God is we can meet," writes Mrs. Eddy, "and where God is we can never part." The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 131;
