The thing was, you see,
that expectancy of good
had dulled
under layers of daily dust,
the shine tarnished
by need for polishing.
The thing was
to dig the cloth of gratitude
from the drawer labeled "neglect"
and get to work:
wipe out self-pity
sing out God's joy
thank His allness
praise His allness
love His allness
and then
the thing—gloom's healing—
was!
