Our family has received many healings through the application of Christian Science. When our oldest daughter was six months old, she was examined by a doctor. There was a red spot on her face from birth. He told us that we should return with the child when she was two years old. She would then have to use special glasses in order not to impair her vision and would later have to be operated on. He lamented that such a thing should happen to a child.

We held to the Bible verse (Hab. 1:13), "Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil." Mrs. Eddy repeats this in Science and Health, where she says (p. 357): "God is 'of purer eyes than to behold evil.' We sustain Truth, not by accepting, but by rejecting a lie." Upon the advice of a dear friend, we wrote to a Christian Science practitioner asking that she help us. A Bible citation that she gave us for study was (Matt. 15:13), "Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up." Our daughter grew up, attended school, and is now married. She did not need to use special glasses, was not operated on, and the skin assumed its normal color.

On one occasion both of our children had taken cold and had high fevers. We stood firm in the truth. The little girl improved immediately, but we didn't have the same success with the boy. I recall that I was afraid because our son had stopped eating and was no longer able to walk. Then my husband took me, along with our son, to the home of the practitioner. We spent the whole day there, and in the late afternoon he came to pick us up. Upon reaching home, I prepared something for the boy to eat, and he took some grains of rice. I was fully confident of the power of God to heal him. The following day he continued to eat, the fever disappeared, and he soon regained his health.
