Recognizing our true, spiritual home

Where Are We Dwelling?

"Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations." Ps. 90:1; This biblical statement may not be too readily understood or its full significance realized until we have gained a measure of spiritual understanding, understanding that progressively destroys the belief that we live in matter. When we grasp what our home truly is— that man is spiritual and lives in Mind, God—we can demonstrate it. Applying this truth to our daily living can be of inestimable benefit. Christian Science instructs us how to utilize this truth and the power of God to harmonize our activities. It helps us lift our thought to a more secure and joyful perception of life in God.

During my business career, circumstances made it necessary for me to prove that man lives in God and to demonstrate God's blessings. A transfer from one city to another necessitated my finding suitable accommodation. It was during a period when houses were scarce. Diligent seeking over many weeks yielded nothing.

One evening when the outlook seemed most gloomy, I was led through prayer to realize that in reality I lived in God, divine Mind, not in a material structure. My home was spiritual, and I was in it; I had not vacated it. This awareness brought peace and calm. The turbulence of my thought was stilled and replaced by the assurance that there is no material coming and going in the truth of being and that man lives harmoniously in God.
