Healing Through Childlike Trust

"One day I came home from Grama and Grampa's house and I was not feeling well so I went to bed but before I went to bed I read the part of Science and Health where the prayer is and when I was done I was completely healed."

This appealing statement of the power to heal through reading Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy was sent to the Sentinel by a seven-year-old. The accompanying illustration done by her shows a smiling little girl sitting on the edge of her bed with an open book in her hand. Along with it, also, was a note from her mother, who is not a Christian Scientist, verifying the healing and adding the comment, "She has been attending the Christian Science Sunday School for two years and we're grateful for her growing trust in God."

A child's simple trust in God is a precious spiritual quality that many adults yearn to cultivate. Even little ones too young to read have had healings similar to the one related above by turning to Science and Health. They have located and repeated a favorite passage—perhaps, as in this case, the Lord's Prayer and its spiritual interpretation, as given on pages 16 and 17—and have been quickly healed. Of course, this section is easily distinguishable even to the very young because of the way the lines are set out on the page, and because children usually learn this prayer first in Sunday School, they are easily able to "read" the words:
