Christian Science comforted me when my mother passed on

Christian Science comforted me when my mother passed on. I was very much in need of help. I was seventeen years of age, had finished high school, and was employed. My mother was a widow. She had been ill for some time and under a doctor's care. I had no brothers or sisters, and there was no close relative to help.

A friend, a student of Christian Science who was aware of the need, brought me a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I began reading this book immediately. The first chapter on Prayer opened a whole new world for me. I had not really understood God's nature. My new study brought me very close to God. The nature and relationship of God and man were explained as I had never understood before. It gave me peace and quietness, and I gained courage and assurance.

I had not known much about Christian Science practitioners, but after my mother passed away, I asked a practitioner for help. I was quickly healed of loss, grief, and loneliness through Christian Science. I had a five-year pin for perfect attendance at a Sunday School in a Protestant church near our home, but I started immediately to attend a Church of Christ, Scientist.
