Waking Up to the Truth
Through the study of Christian Science we learn that mortal existence is a dream. We need to wake up from this dream to become aware of our true being, which is spiritual, perfect, harmonious, and eternal.
When the new student of this Science is confronted with the thought that mortal existence is illusive, it is not surprising if he responds with a question as to how he got into it. He might ask: How do we get into a dream while sleeping? We are not in a dream situation, although while dreaming we may feel that what is going on is real. Similarly, all the time we believe we exist as mortals, we actually exist as immortals, or spiritual ideas.
The statement in the first chapter of Genesis that God made man in His image and likeness helps us understand that man is spiritual. God is infinite Spirit; He could not be material and finite.
