One evening I was in the bath, and as I stood up to step out, my feet slipped and I fell on my back against the faucet. I was in so much pain I could hardly move. My mother helped me up and we declared that there are no accidents in God's kingdom, where we really live. I was able to get into my room, but I had to have assistance, as my legs just did not want to move. I was helped into bed and given the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, to study before going to sleep. Mommy said she would pray for me, and she left me alone. The pain left and I slept well.

When I was awakened early the next morning, I struggled out of bed, as my legs were painful. I stopped trying to move and, instead, refused to acknowledge the error. My mother, who was still praying for me, mentioned that I had never missed one day of school. She left me alone to decide for myself what I wished to do. I reasoned with the definition of God in the textbook, knowing that God is "all-seeing, all-acting, all-wise, all-loving, and eternal." [The full definition is (p. 587): "God. The great I am; the all-knowing, all-seeing, all-acting, allwise, all-loving, and eternal; Principle; Mind; Soul; Spirit; Life; Truth; Love; all substance; intelligence."] I was able to get dressed and go downstairs for breakfast.

It felt a lot better, but I asked Mommy to pack my Science and Health. When I got into the car I began to study the answer to the question "What is man?" all the way to the bus. A line of it reads (p. 475), "The Scriptures inform us that man is made in the image and likeness of God." That was the end of the problem.
