Let's Get Ready!

How does one get ready? For what do we get ready? Why must we get ready? Is one ready to get ready? Interesting and challenging questions!

I am reminded of a wonderful never-to-be-forgotten spiritual experience I had simply because I got ready. It was Sunday, and a Christian Science lecture was to be given in an auditorium fifty miles from the seaside Boston suburb where a friend and I had come from another state to spend the summer. We had no phone, friends did not know of our whereabouts, and we had no car. Longing to hear that lecture, I remembered Mrs. Eddy's statement, "Desire is prayer; and no loss can occur from trusting God with our desires, that they may be moulded and exalted before they take form in words and in deeds." Science and Health, p. 1;

Suddenly, with a feeling of anticipation, I turned to my friend and said: "Let's get ready." When we were dressed for the lecture, eager to go, the doorbell rang. Friends from another state whom we hadn't seen in over a year, and who had come to Boston looking for us, had found our door. After happy greetings they noticed we were ready to go somewhere. They were delighted to hear about the lecture, eager to attend, and prepared to drive us. We arrived in plenty of time to be seated.
