Seeking pleasure in matter, I got caught up in cigarette smoking while in junior high school. The habit of looking for satisfaction and adventure in matter led me into the use of marijuana, cocaine, LSD, and hallucinogenic drugs that were available. I did not question my actions, since my friends were into the same pleasure trip that I was.

After six years of illegitimate living my health fell apart. In my despair I decided to hospitalize myself to see if the damage could be repaired. On the way to the hospital, already in a taxi, I felt impelled to call a Christian Science practitioner.

It was God's law of Love forcing me to seek a better life. I had attended a Christian Science Sunday School occasionally and apparently the seed of Truth had been planted at that time, and was ready to grow.
