Christian Science came to me because I was seeking God, good, and wondered why we could not heal as Jesus did. I had visited churches of different denominations during my high school years.

When traveling to my first office work at the age of eighteen, I found in a bus station a Christian Science Sentinel marked "Free Christian Science Literature." My three-hour layover was ample time to read it through. I said to myself, "This is what I have been looking for all my life." In the town where I had found work was a Christian Science Society, which I attended, but my growth in understanding and applying this Science was slow. Three years later I moved far west to a large city.

My first healing came when I sought a Christian Science practitioner for help because of an ulcerated tooth. My family advised me to see a dentist. I told the practitioner this on my second visit, but when I walked out of her office, the swelling was gone and I was able to eat. The tooth was healed without resorting to dentistry. This same practitioner helped me by explaining the need to belong to a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and The Mother Church, for which I have always been grateful. I became an active member.
