"Blessed are the meek"
Moses was no weakling. His accomplishments prove that. Yet the Bible records that he "was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth." Num. 12:3;
This fact should give us pause, especially in view of the widespread belief that meekness is synonymous with flabby inadequacy.
Then, too, we need to remember that Christ Jesus said, "Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth." Matt. 5:5; This forthright statement has no overtones of weakness. In fact, it would seem to indicate that meekness is a vastly important quality that leads to real strength, to a conscious sense of power that enables one to "inherit the earth"—understand and apply man's God-given dominion.
