Many individuals yearn for companionship. I did, when I lived alone nine years ago. As I studied the weekly Christian Science Lesson-Sermon, this Bible verse arrested my thought: "God setteth the solitary in families" (Ps. 68:6). I longed for that promise to be fulfilled in my experience. I knew that as God's reflection I included all right ideas. I claimed my completeness by expressing such masculine and feminine qualities as strength, patience, gentleness, and decisiveness. Branch church activity brought me inspiration and satisfaction. I expanded my friendships. I am grateful for the love extended to me by a family of Christian Scientists who lived nearby.

Following my genuine willingness to trust God, divine Love, to provide for my companionship, together with my refusal to outline for infinite Mind just how my need would be met, I married a very fine man, who valued home and family as I did. He attended the branch Church of Christ, Scientist, with me, began to study the textbooks, the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and then joined The Mother Church and a branch church.

We were married three years and had no children. This was a great disappointment to me. I was envious of other mothers and became periodically depressed. A Christian Science practitioner recommended that I "list and cultivate the unselfed qualities that constitute true motherhood." My list included affection, tenderness, purity, and joy. I had many opportunities to express these qualities as I taught school and a Sunday School class.
