I thank God with all my heart that He led me to find Christian Science so early in life. Now when I look back on that time, I realize my life was often like a surging sea, yet at the same time I think of the Bible passage (Hos. 11:4): "I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them."

Again and again divine Love led me out of physical and mental distress and healed me. While able to solve many problems with Christian Science—physical vexations of various sorts, supply, and many other things—it was necessary one day for me to prove that my faith in God, not only as my Father but also as my Physician, was founded on a rock.

For three days my throat was practically closed. The trouble started with a sore throat, but I paid it little attention until it reached the point that I could no longer eat or even swallow. Since I was still working at my job, I was required to call a doctor, who ordered an immediate operation. I shook my head, since I was unable to speak. Then he said that I would have to get some capsules from the dispensary and take them at once, or his part in the matter would be finished. I agreed; they were procured, but I did not take any. Before the doctor came, I had asked a member of our church for prayerful support in Christian Science, which was lovingly given.
