The Nonexistence of Evil
God has created a flawless, spiritual universe. It operates harmoniously and eternally. Its expression of good never halts or slows down but reflects the perpetual activity of perfect Mind. Christian Science teaches that because God is good and is All, the entire creation, including man, expresses only goodness. There is no evil in it at all.
This perfect spiritual universe is not something beyond our present comprehension. We are all witnessing it in varied measure here and now. Every time we are aware of goodness, health, purity, or love, either in ourselves or in others, we get a glimpse of that perfect universe; we witness Mind's manifestation of itself. An act of kindness, a spiritual healing, these are proofs which encourage us to work and pray for more understanding so that eventually we will be aware of nothing else but God and His pure perfection.
Human experience, however, seems to be far from being absolutely perfect. Subject to the pollution of mortal mind, it manifests a mixture of good and evil. How is it possible, then, to reconcile this imperfect, material existence with a universe consisting of nothing but goodness and truth? Christian Science reasons from the premise that God is All, and explains that in truth evil is nonexistent.
