Control of the Body and Its Action
For over a century students of Christian Science have been learning little by little that the internal organs of the human body are not self-acting as they seem to be. This Science is teaching them that the physical body and its organic functions are really the subjective state of the human mind, and therefore controllable as this mind consciously and humbly surrenders to the control of God, the perfect and infinite divine Mind.
Gradually the fact of mankind's dominion over physical conditions is filtering into general thought. Experiments carried on in several medical centers have proved that a human being can indeed learn to control the inner functions of his body through mental means. To those involved with these experiments, the results seem marvelous; but they only hint at the true Science of Mind and its possibilities, which Mrs. Eddy discovered and demonstrated over a century ago.
A magazine article entitled "Can You Control Your Heart?' begins by saying: "Improbable as it seems, you can control your heart if you need to, many doctors are saying after 12 years of specialized research. And not only the heart. A rare breed of medical researcher has demonstrated beyond question that learnable— and lasting—'mind over matter' disciplines can actually enable you to control the organs of your body, to modify their functions." James C. G. Conniff in Family Weekly, October 11, 1970 ;
