Recently my thoughts went back through many years in deep gratitude to the kind friend who told my mother that she could be healed in Christian Science. As a result of her friend's recommendation my mother contacted a Christian Science practitioner, and was completely healed of a fibroid tumor the doctors had not been able to remove successfully. My mother became an earnest student of Christian Science, and I was enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School at an early age. I have been completely satisfied with the Christian Science way of life, and it has met my every need for some sixty years.

In a testimony published some years ago in the Sentinel I expressed gratitude for a healing of grief when, after a long and busy life, my mother passed on. It was as though her love still enfolded me through her many endearing qualities. More recently I felt the same comfort and almost complete freedom from deep grief when my husband passed on suddenly.

I have been quite free from physical problems most of my life, and for this I am most grateful. However, it is true that one has a part to play in bringing this about, and that part is systematic and expectant study as a student of this wonderful Science. In the working out of any problem, regardless of its type or character, my real desire has been to prove by demonstration that I do understand what I am studying and trying to put into practice. This is in answer to Mrs. Eddy's question found in her Miscellaneous Writings (pp. 29, 30): "Do we really understand the divine Principle of Christianity before we prove it, in at least some feeble demonstration thereof, according to Jesus' example in healing the sick?"
