The True Meaning of Work

Work is one of the most significant factors we encounter in our daily lives. It is therefore imperative that we gain a true concept of what work really is. Christian Science provides an explanation both scientifically correct and capable of application to our human situation.

In this Science we learn that the spiritual, or true, meaning of work is man's reflection of God, Spirit. In this highest sense of work, God is seen and acknowledged as the only creator, the only substance and intelligence of the universe, as infinite Mind and omnipresent Love. And man is seen and acknowledged to be His complete and perfect reflection, imaging forth all the qualities of God in justice, abundance, health, and harmonious being.

The spiritual fact of the allness of God and of man's relationship to Him is established throughout time and eternity. Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health: "Is God creating anew what He has already created? The Scriptures are definite on this point, declaring that His work was finished, nothing is new to God, and that it was good."Science and Health, p. 206; The spiritual significance of work is the fact of God's allness and man's relationship to Him as His perfect reflection.
