The Prayer God Hears

The Bible is filled with God's promises to help those who call upon Him. In Jeremiah we read: "I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you." Jer. 29:11, 12;

God's promises are kept. By His very nature God gives all good to all His creation. Yet one often hears it said, "God does not hear me when I pray." If one feels that God's promise to hear is not being kept, let him ponder the verse following the Bible passage quoted: "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart."

What kind of help are we seeking when we pray? Are we honestly seeking an understanding of God and desiring to be His witness? Or is our prayer no more than a petition to God to change His infinite design to fit our own plan for ourselves? The prayer God hears is the heart's earnest desire to be the image and likeness of Him, to bring forth the fruits of Spirit, not matter.
