When we moved to Texas, I was suddenly stricken with acute asthma. The problem was severe. It confined me for weeks at a time. I had treatment at different times from several Christian Science practitioners, but the attacks kept recurring several times a year and made it very hard on some members of my family who were not Christian Scientists. Besides seeing my suffering, they had to cope with well-meaning friends who urged that I be put in an oxygen tent to spare me the stress of the attacks.
Between each attack I was able to breathe more or less normally, but I had to give up tennis and climbing stairs, and for several months even walking was limited. After I had class instruction in Christian Science, there was one more attack, but with the help of my teacher I was able to resume my normal activities in two days. This was eight years ago. There has been no recurrence of the attacks, and I can climb, run, and play tennis again.
Another healing for which I am filled with gratitude is the instantaneous overcoming of pain at a time when I burned my hand. I was making caramel and through an awkward gesture upturned the pan in such a way that the boiling sugar covered my left hand. The pain was excruciating, and I cried out to God. I turned the hot water tap and let the water dissolve the sugar, which had hardened. Then throwing a towel over my hand, I sank into a chair affirming God's goodness and the fact that nothing could separate me from the love of God.
The pain ceased instantly. Discarding the towel, but without looking at the hand, I started making another batch of caramel. I was able to use my hand and fingers without feeling any pain. That night we had dinner guests who are not Christian Scientists, and I am especially grateful that they did not seem to notice my hand. No questions were asked. It was as if the accident had not happened. It took a few months for new skin to grow and the last traces of the burn to disappear, but I had complete freedom of my hand and experienced no pain or discomfort during the healing process. No scar was left to mar the healing.
I am deeply grateful for freedom from fear and the protection that has been mine through the years in travelling thousands of miles by plane and car, and for the joy, happiness, and strength I have found in my marriage with a splendid student of Christian Science.

I am happy to have the privilege of corroborating the healings my wife has described above.
