I have relied completely on God for fifty years. Through the study of Christian Science I have had many healings as I have gained a better understanding of God and my relationship to Him.

We read in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 486): "Suppose one accident happens to the eye, another to the ear, and so on, until every corporeal sense is quenched. What is man's remedy? To die, that he may regain these senses? Even then he must gain spiritual understanding and spiritual sense in order to possess immortal consciousness." Many years ago I had a healing of deafness in one ear. There was deafness in both my mother's and my father's family, and all my brothers and sisters suffered from poor hearing at an early age.

I was the only one interested in Christian Science, and one day my youngest brother asked how it came that all my brothers and sisters were getting hard of hearing and I was not. Evidently I did not protect my thought from this suggestion of error as I should have, and some time later I became deaf.

At first I was discouraged and thought I would not want to go through life deaf. Then the thought came that I did not have to, and as I thought of all the healings I had had in the past I started to pray as we are taught in Christian Science. Relief did not come at once so I called a practitioner for help and I studied more and more each day.

In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 7): "The 'divine ear' is not an auditory nerve. It is the all-hearing and all-knowing Mind, to whom each need of man is always known and by whom it will be supplied." This passage helped me very much. Later I attended a Christian Science lecture, during which the healing took place. I was healed and have remained so for many years.

In 1956 I had a healing of a crippling disease. I was living alone and it seemed that the time had come when I could no longer care for myself. There were no Christian Scientists living close who could help. I was taken into a lovely home for ten days while the practitioner continued to give me treatment. Then I felt I could take care of myself. Soon afterward the healing was complete and I have been very active ever since.

I was healed years ago of hay fever and also asthma. Through the years I have had many other healings through my own prayerful work and through the help of practitioners. I have not used any material means in all these years.

I am grateful for almost fifty years of membership in The Mother Church and a branch church. I also want to express my gratitude for the healing of grief at the passing of members of my family: my dear husband, who was also a member of The Mother Church; my parents, and all my brothers and sisters. The help and comfort I got from Christian Science to me was wonderful.

I am grateful that God is present everywhere, for His Son, Christ Jesus, and for Mrs. Eddy, the author of the Christian Science text-book, Science and Health.
