Through the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings we learn to know...

Through the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings we learn to know God, who is All. There is no limit to God's goodness, power, and love. Mrs. Eddy states in Science and Health (p. 465), "God is incorporeal, divine, supreme, infinite Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, Love." As we have used our growing understanding of these synonyms in our daily lives and prayed to acknowledge our oneness with God as His reflection, we have found release from limitations of fear, lack, sickness, and unhappiness.

This truth has been very helpful to me in many ways. Since my husband retired, we have been traveling quite a bit. On one of our trips home I became very ill with severe pain. A Christian Science practitioner was called for treatment. I tried to stand firm and prayed to know that I was not a mortal but a spiritual, perfect child of God, His image and likeness, and therefore had only the substance of good, the substance of Spirit.

The illness continued for several days. During this time I received a letter from a friend who asked me to help her through prayer, as she was in great need. My first thought was how can I help her when I cannot seem to see my own way clear?

In answering her letter I informed her that God is Love. I also told her: "He loves every member of your family. He loves you. He doesn't leave you out. Learn the spiritual way by understanding God, by loving, by striving to do what is right each day, every minute. You will be released and find real happiness and health. God is your Life and strength." I pointed out the "in the Bible we read (Phil. 2:5), 'Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.' Jesus saw each one as perfect, the perfect image and likeness of God." When I finished my letter, I found I was released from all the pain and discomfort myself. I had received my own healing.

I am deeply grateful for this greater understanding and unfoldment of Christian Science, which in turn meets all our needs. With this understanding I can help others in need.

I am grateful for the periodicals and all who are connected with The Mother Church and the Christian Science movement.
