GOD'S DAY
Firmament arc of heaven,
Open allness of Love
Shining in Genesis light
In breathless wonder of God's day.
Stars held through constant law
In orbits set by Mind,
Creeping things that gently tell
Of Love's minutest care.
And man,
No mere observer
But creation's climax,
Enfolding and experiencing—
From creeping things to far-flung star—
This universe of Love's ideas.
But the star,
That noble shining one you crave,
You have not reached it yet?
Then take creeping things—
Be joy to the menial task,
Love to the loveless, lonely,
Be light to the disadvantaged,
Truth to the crooked, twisted.
Walk in His halo of love,
Unbroken circle of light.
Live His flawless day
And look—
There, cradled in your hand
The star!
