The Demands of God
In these times we are often besieged by increasing demands, and we wonder how we'll ever fulfill all our obligations, and also how many of them are legitimate. In seeking the solution to human problems, multitudes have found help and comfort in the inspired pages of the Bible. Christian Science helps us gain a clearer, more spiritual understanding of these guidelines to a happier, more fruitful human experience.
The seven synonyms for God that Mrs. Eddy specifies in Science and Health—Mind, Soul, Spirit, Principle, Life, Truth, Love—especially help us gain a better understanding of God's nature, as well as of man created in His likeness. Through this understanding we discern the nature of God's demands on us.
Many times a day we have the opportunity to decide whether demands made on us are from God or from mortal mind—called in the Scriptures the carnal mind. Mrs. Eddy provides us with many tests for making this determination.
