This statement by Mrs. Eddy is a most helpful guide to living, and has been a goal for which I am striving daily (Science and Health, p. 58): "Unselfish ambition, noble life-motives, and purity,—these constituents of thought, mingling, constitute individually and collectively true happiness, strength, and permanence."

As a child I witnessed the glorious power of Christian Science when it healed my parents. Our family attended a fine Protestant church regularly and desired to be good Christians. Both parents were in need of physical healing. My father was healed through Christian Science treatment of a severe kidney condition, which had been diagnosed by three medical doctors. The verdict was that he could never put in a day's work the rest of his life. My father is now reaching fourscore years and living a full, happy life.

My mother was healed of a condition equally if not more serious. Before she knew of Christian Science, she had submitted to an operation and had been told that a second one was necessary or she would lose her life because of poisioning in the affected area. It was then that she made the decision to turn wholeheartedly to Christian Science and was restored to health. My father's healing had occurred several years earlier. Both parents had a very meager understanding of Christian Science at the time of their healings, but they did have great faith. The devoted Christian Science practitioner, who was called to our home, gave constant prayerful support. In both instances the healing took place within a few days. Their full health was restored to them. From then on our family supported the Church of Christ, Scientist, in many ways.
