Christian Scientists Are Activists
The essence of divine Science is omniactive God, Principle, whose law of harmonious activity brings freedom to mankind—freedom from the limitations of heredity, environment, grief, disappointment, frustration, injustice. Thus Christian Science is an activist movement in the highest sense of the term.
Today mankind strive to better their human conditions. They seek justice, adequate housing, adequate income, and adequate equal opportunity. Christian Scientists have a glorious opportunity to aid themselves and their fellowmen in obtaining just social and economic goals.
The student of Christian Science does not isolate himself from the world or its problems, nor does he regard these problems with panic or despair. Rather, he confronts society's human problems not only metaphysically but in unselfish human activity as directed by divine Mind. Right human activity logically and inevitably flows from right, prayerful metaphysical activity, and the Scientist thus becomes the most effective activist in the community.
