The mother of Zebedee's children (Matt. 20:20)
A. H. McNeile notes that "the mother's name was probably Salome" (cf. Mark 15:40; Matt. 27: 56) "and possibly a sister of the Lord's mother (John 19:25), in which case family relationship may have been thought to justify the desire for precedence." The two sons in question were, of course, James and John (see Matt. 4:21).
