What God Joins Together

Today there is a raging contagion of marital problems. We may even know firsthand of those who are experiencing the ravages of marital infidelity, of separation and divorce, of living a marriage that is a joyless farce—engulfed in selfishness and conflict.

Christian Science brings healing to marital relationships through the understanding that man's true nature is spiritual, not animal. It establishes the unity of man and God—man wed to his divine Principle, Love, and including within himself satisfaction, completeness, joy, home, right activity. And it teaches the compassionate and reasoned application of Love to human conduct.

At the root of all problems involving marital relationships is the basic assumption that man and woman, male and female, are two and separate. But in Genesis we read, "God created man in his own image ...; male and female created he them." ^{Gen. 1:27;} Christian Science, revealing the father-motherhood of God, also reveals the male and female nature of His creation, His image as one, not two. Man is undivided, whole. Each individual must, at some point, demonstrate and cherish his own spiritual manhood and womanhood.
