Sing Above Adversity
In a pine tree outside my window one summer, two birds were rearing a family. During a violent electrical storm I was startled and stirred to hear one of the birds singing. It continued to sing until the tempest was over.
How important it is for us to sing and rejoice in divine Love's ever-present, eternal, and omnipotent protection and goodness, regardless of how dark and tempestuous human life may seem to be! All forms of error may shriek for attention, but the true Christian Scientist will remain undisturbed and joyous, knowing that evil is not real.
Evil only seems to be real. It has no power or presence but what we give it. Singing and being glad because we know the reality of good will help dispel fear and lift us above the error to the point where God's presence and power are seen and acknowledged. When we know that it is impossible for error to be present because God, divine Mind, is All and includes all, error disappears.
