Error Is Nothing

"It was probably nothing anyway." These words are sometimes spoken to a Christian Scientist when the physical evidence of disease has disappeared as the result of Christian Science treatment. In truth, exactly what the treatment has proven is that error is nothing.

A young mother, a student of Christian Science, was told by a well-meaning neighbor that her child had every symptom of a contagious disease and should be brought into the house immediately and isolated from the other children. The mother saw alarming physical symptoms that had not been evident earlier in the morning. She called a Christian Science practitioner, and prayer was immediately begun.

As she worked with the practitioner, her thought was filled with love. She knew that her little one was, in reality, the child of God, divine Love, and could only reflect loveliness and health. She realized that the truth of this child was also true of all of God's children and that only good was communicable. She prayed to understand that there is no mind apart from God to see or know imperfection. She and the practitioner continued to pray until the perfection of God and man was clearly established in consciousness. The next morning there was not a trace of the illness, and the child was allowed to go about her normal activities.
