The Function of Conscience

One's sense of right and wrong and the guidance one draws from it are under considerable pressure because of changing attitudes with respect to conduct and morals. To maintain an equilibrium and go forward spiritually is no small task in the face of what is called the moral revolution. What are the standards of right and wrong, and what is the function of conscience in the present malaise?

The young person today may well ask, "Who determines what is right? Who made the rules?"

We could spend a lot of time tracing the mores and rules of society and still not be convincing in our answer. But everyone will admit that there is intelligence expressed in creation. Where there is creative Mind, or Principle, there must be law and order. Intelligent creative cause is expressed in orderly effect. As individuals become more aware of the spiritual facts of being, they see how this influences their human experience. The law of divine Mind, when conceived of humanly, results in rules of conduct. This is what happened when Moses perceived the Ten Commandments.
