Because my grandmother was healed in Christian Science of a predicted fatal illness when my mother was a young girl, I was blessed by being reared in Christian Science, I am most grateful for lifelong guidance and protection, as well as for the many healings that have come through the application of Christian Science.

While serving as First Reader of the Christian Science Society of which I was a member, I had two difficult physical problems to overcome. I began experiencing almost constant sore throat and headaches, but I always received sufficient relief so that I could carry on my work as First Reader, sometimes through the help of a practitioner and at other times through my own prayerful work. Later this was complicated by feelings of dizziness and finally by numbness of the left arm and hand.

After a particularly trying Sunday I telephoned a practitioner in a distant city and asked for her help. She forcefully said: "God is your Mind, and He is protecting you. Mortal mind does not know who you are, where you are, nor what you are doing. There is no mortal mind there." I clung to these statements, endeavoring to realize the presence of the one divine Mind only. Within three days I was completely free.
