Healing Can Be Immediate
Some people think that it takes time before one can understand Christian Science sufficiently to demonstrate its healing power. This, however, is not so. In the Bible we read, "The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword." Hebr. 4:12:
A young woman, whose baby was ill, was searching for a better understanding of God. When she met a neighbor who was a Christian Scientist, she questioned her about her religion. During the discussion the neighbor asked her whether she was aware that there are two accounts of creation in the Bible. The neighbor went on to say that the first chapter of Genesis gives the spiritual record, while the second chapter gives the mortal account of man as created from dust. This material account is the direct opposite of the first record: "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air,... and over every creeping thing that crecpeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." Gen. 1:26, 27:
The neighbor said that to discern the real man created in the image of Spirit, or divine Mind, it is necessary to look beyond the physical body. Mrs. Eddy writes in the Christian Science textbook. Science and Health: "Mortals must look beyond fading, finite forms, if they would gain the true sense of things. Where shall the gaze rest but in the unsearchable realm of Mind?" Science and Health, p. 264;
