The pamphlet "God's Law of Adjustment" was the first writing on Christian Science to come into my hands. I intuitively felt that what was said there was based on a firm spiritual foundation. I was looking for such a foundation, and I decided that this was the path I would follow. Although I had no thought at first of a physical healing, a complete cure of a heart condition that had made me incapable of working and was considered incurable by medical standards resulted solely through the study of the Bible Lessons in the Christian Science Quarterly and of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. Poverty and discord in the home also disappeared from my experience, and my life was entirely changed for the better.

To tell of all the blessings and healings which have come to me since then would take many pages. Many came through the help of Christian Science practitioners, and many through my own understanding. One healing is especially dear to me.

One day I noticed difficulty in hearing. Prayerful work brought only temporary improvement. After a period of time I suddenly could hardly hear at all. Great fear seemed to block the desired progress, and since I felt I could not deal with the problem alone, I asked my teacher in Christian Science for metaphysical support through treatment. One visit with her is unforgettable. What was said to me there with great love not only comforted and strengthened me but basically roused me to think again along the right lines and to persist in doing so. Two days later, while I sat in deep prayer, I mentally heard the song based on the words from Psalm 37: "Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him."
